Florida State, Auburn to play for BCS college football national title

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Top ranked Florida State and No. 2 Auburn will play in the college football Vizio BCS National Championship on Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif., after topping the final BCS standings on Sunday.

The Tigers (12-1), which won the SEC championship on Saturday after beating Missouri 59-42, sealed their spot after last week’s No. 2 ranked Ohio State was beaten by Michigan State in the Big Ten title game on the same day.

In 2010 Cam Newton lead Auburn to the national title and head coach Gus Malzahn will be hoping his team can become the eighth straight SEC team to win the college football BCS title.

But Florida State, which easily brushed aside Duke 45-7 to take the ACC title, will be no pushovers after impressing throughout the entire regular season campaign.

Elsewhere in college football Bowl schedule, defending national champions and No. 4 Alabama will play No. 11 Oklahoma in the Allstate Sugar Bowl after the Sooners frog leaped Oklahoma State, by beaten them on Saturday. No. 4 Michigan State and No. 5 Stanford are selected for the Rose Bowl Game, while the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl sees the Big 12 champion, No. 6 Baylor facing the American Athletic Conference winners, No. 15 UCF.
