George, who tallied 33 points on 13 of 18 shooting from the field, found his groove in the second half to score 26 of his total points as the Lakers spoiled the champions’ ring ceremony night.

The All-Star guard made five 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds for the Clippers and he said during his post-match interview on TNT that he allowed the game to come to him rather than forcing up shots.

Kawhi Leonard added 26 points, Serge Ibaka scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting with six rebounds in his debut for the Clippers, Ivica Zubac and Lou Williams each scored 11 and Patrick Beverley had 10 points and six boards in the win.

LeBron James, who sat out the final three-plus minutes, scored 22 points with five rebounds and five assists and Anthony Davis had 18 points and seven boards for the LA Lakers.

The pair who helped Los Angeles beat the Miami Heat and win the NBA title about two and a half months around, combined to shoot 15 of 33 from the field.

Harrell and Dennis Impressed on Lakers Debut

Montrezl Harrell, who moved from the Clippers to the Lakers last month, ended with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow recruit Dennis Schröder also grabbed a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and dished out eight assists.

Kyle Kuzma ended with 15 points off the bench for Los Angeles, which shot 46.9% on 38 of 81 shooting.

The Clippers went 44 of 93 for 47.3% from the floor.

Tyronn Lue was making his debut as the new Clippers head coach, following the departure of Doc Rivers after his team blew a 3-1 Western Conference semi-final playoff series lead against the Denver Nuggets in the NBA bubble.
