MIAMI, FL — Gonzaga stayed No. 1 for a second straight week in The Associated Press college basketball latest rankings, which was release in Week 14 on Monday.
The Bulldogs (24-0), who are the only remaining unbeaten NCAA Division I program this season, collected 59 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel for 1,619 points, after picking up a pair of wins over BYU and Santa Clara last week.
Meanwhile, after six of the Top 10 teams from last week fell during that period, defending champion Villanova (22-2) moved two places up to No. 2 this week.
The Wildcats, who had two wins last week, received the other six No. 1 votes for 1,565 points.
Kansas (20-3), which defeated Kentucky on the road at the top of the week before seeing its 51-game winning streak at Allen Fieldhouse ended on Saturday, remained No. 3, while Louisville jumped two spots from sixth to fourth.
The Oregon Ducks (21-3), who won their two fixtures last week, including an impressive 85-58 victory over then-No. 5 Arizona, soared eight places to No. 5 this week.
Baylor, which lost twice last week, to Kansas (73-68) and Kansas State (56-54) slipped from second to sixth.
The Top 10 is rounded out by Wisconsin at seventh, North Carolina, Arizona and UCLA.
Cincinnati, which is currently on a 14-game winning streak overall and is 10-0 in conference play, moved up three places to No. 11 and is followed by Virginia, West Virginia, Florida State, Kentucky, Purdue, Florida, Duke, South Carolina and Saint Mary’s in the Top 20.
Xavier (17-7) and SMU (20-4 are the newcomers in the AP Top 25 rankings this week, with Notre Dame and Northwestern making way.
Maryland at No. 21, Butler, at No. 22 and No. 23 Creighton completed the ranked teams this week.
