Meanwhile, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to play a fixture of youth and veterans against Derby with the likes of Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and new signing Tom Heaton all expected to feature.
After missing out at playing with the England international team at the just concluded Euro Championships, Lingard will be hoping to continue on the form that saw him being called up for a place in the national setup before the final squad for the Euro was named.
Defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Axel Tuanzebe, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, as well as striker Mason Greenwood, who had to withdraw from the England team due to injury earlier this summer, should also be involved against Derby on Sunday.
For Derby, it is being reported that Jamaican international and former Manchester United FA Youth Cup winner Ravel Morrison is being looked at by Rooney and could feature on Sunday. The Rams are apparently taking a closer look at trialist, ex-Sheffield United and England international defender Phil Jagielka and he could also play.
