Kroos wanted Chelsea move, not Man United

MUNICH (Sporting Alert) -- Germany midfielder Toni Kroos had no intentions of joining Manchester United, despite several reports claiming that he was all set to move to Old Trafford before Louis van Gaal pulled the plug on a deal.

MUNICH (Sporting Alert) — Germany midfielder Toni Kroos reportedly had no intentions of joining Manchester United, despite several news claiming that it was Louis van Gaal, who pulled the plug on his deal.

It was understood that the former Bayern Munich central midfielder had agreed to a deal to join Manchester United in the summer before he eventually signed for Real Madrid, but the 24-year-old played down those reports.

In fact, Kroos reportedly claimed that the only English Premier League club he had any desire to link up with was Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side, which currently leads the EPL standings.

“I’m happy to have been given the chance to try something new. Even though it’s only been a short while I feel like it was the right decision,” he was quoted as telling German national daily newspaper Die Welt.

“Madrid is a special club and the challenge I was looking for after my long and successful career at Bayern.

“Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona and Chelsea are the four biggest clubs at the moment, so I would only have swapped one for another.”
