NEW YORK (07 DEC, Sporting News) —— The AP Top 25 results on Tuesday night, December 6 with No. 1 Houston and No. 3 Virginia win the remain perfect on the season thus far, while No. 2 Texas suffered a disappointing loss to No. 17 Illinois in another game.

There were two games played in the Jimmy V Classic presented by Corona at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the opening matchup, a spirited and determined 17th ranked Illinois outlasted the second-ranked Texas 85-78 in overtime after after both teams ended regulation locked at 68. The other game in the Jimmy V Classic 2022 saw No. 15 Duke easing past Iowa 74-62 to extend its winning run to three games and won seven of the last eight overall. Jeremy Roach matched his career high with 22 points, Mark Mitchell added 17 points, while Kyle Filipowski had 12 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season for the Blue Devils.

Elsewhere, in other AP Top 25 results on Tuesday night, No. 1 Houston improved to 9-0 after beating North Florida 76-42 and No. 3 Virginia used a strong defense to hold off James Madison for a 55-50 win with the Cavaliers improving to 8-0 on the season.
