Manchester United says Nemanja Vidic injury nothing serious

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United has confirmed that club captain Nemanja Vidic has picked up an injury, but insist the defender’s problem is “nothing serious.”

Vidic was not a part of the Manchester United 19-man that travelled to Thailand on Wednesday following a back injury he picked up.

But the Serbian, the club said, is likely to join his team-mates on the trip at a later stage as the Premier League champions start the first leg of Tour 2013 presented by Aon.

“It’s nothing serious,” a club spokesperson told

“In the meantime, he’ll continue his pre-season preparations in Manchester at the Aon Training Complex.”

Manchester United’s first pre-season game this summer is against a Singha All Star XI on Saturday 13 July.

The EPL side is without several leading players, including Robin van Persie, David De Gea, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez.
