MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Manchester United have named its starting lineup for today’s Group B Champions League clash with Wolfsburg at Old Trafford.
The starting lineup sees manager Louis van Gaal making one change to the side that beat Sunderland 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, with midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger replacing the injured Michael Carrick.
This means that Antonio Valencia has shaken off whatever knock he was carrying into the game and will start again at right back.
Schweinsteiger will play alongside Morgan Schneiderlin in the midfield, as Ander Herrera did not make the match day squad.
Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial all start as well, with Matteo Darmian starting again for the injured Luke Shaw at left back.
Chris Smalling and Daley Blind are the centre-backs again, with David de Gea unmoved between the sticks.
Ashley Young, James Wilson, Phil Jones and Andreas Pereira are among the substitutes.
Manchester United were beaten 2-1 in their group opener at PSV two-weeks ago.
Visiting manager Dieter Hecking also makes one change to the side which drew 1-1 at home to Hannover in the German league on Saturday, with Maximilian Arnold replacing Germany World Cup winner Andre Schurrle.
Wolfsburg picked up a victory over CSKA Moscow in their Champions League season opener and are joint Group B leaders with PSV on three points after one game.
According OptaStats, Wolfsburg come into the game having lost all three of their trips to England in European competition, with the Bundesliga side conceding eight goals during that run.
