PORT-OF-SPAIN, Sporting Alert – Trinidad and Tobago cruised to an easy 84 run victory over Jamaica in a Nagico Super50, Group A game at Port of Spain on Thursday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Trinidad and Tobago made 221 all out off 47.2 overs with Evin Lewis smashing 74 runs off 74 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Rayed Emrit hit 43 runs down the order off 51 deliveries with 3 fours and one six, while Marlon Richards made 31 and Akeal Hosein finished with 23.

Spinner Damion Jacobs took three wickets for 40 runs off his allotted 10 overs, while Nikita Miller and Tamar Lambert both finished with two wickets.

When Jamaica replied, debutant Brandon King top scored with 26 runs, Andre McCarthy hit 21 and Trevon Griffith made 20, as the visitors were bowled out for 137.

Richards took five wickets for 36 runs off his 10 overs, while Yannick Ottley grabbed two wickets.

With the win, Trinidad & Tobago collected five points to go top of the Group A standings Jamaica 0.

Also in the opening round of the Regional Nagico Super50, the Windward Islands defeated Guyana by one run under the Duckworth/Lewis Method after their Group B battle was affected by rain at Warner Park.

The Volcanoes batted first and made 214 all out off 50 overs with Devon Smith slamming 91 and Sunil Ambris supporting well with 47. Gudakesh Motie was the key wicket taker for the Jaguars with 3 for 32, while Steven Jacobs finished with 3 for 40.

In reply, Guyana were 122 for off 26 overs, with Assad Fudadin making an undefeated 44.

Elsewhere, left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn and left-handed batsman Jonathan Carter helped Barbados Pride secured a four-wicket win over ICC Americas, in their opening Group A game of the Regional Super50 on Thursday.

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, Barbados bowled out the Americas for 183 off 43.1 overs, with Benn collecting four wickets for 40 runs and fellow spinner Ashley Nurse picking up three for 23

In the chase, Carter hit an undefeated 55 and Kevin Stoute made 40 runs as Pride reached their target in the 43rd over.
