NBA Preseason: Pelicans and Hornets Score Wins

MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – NBA preseason scores and recaps from the list of games that took place on Saturday night, October 3. There were wins for the Pelicans and the Hornets.

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 110, INDIANA PACERS 100

INDIANAPOLIS – Anthony Davis delivered 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 110-105 NBA preseason victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.

Also grabbing a preseason win on the night were the Charlotte Hornets over the Orlando Magic.

Davis, who played 16 minutes of the opening warmup, was 8-for-17 from the field.

Eric Gordon scored 16 points, three rebounds and two steals and Luke Babbitt added 16 points, four boards and three assists off the bench to help the Pelicans secured the win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Former Miami Heat reserve guard Norris Cole scored 10 points and five rebounds, with Chris Douglas-Roberts also finishing with 10 points.

Paul George led the way for the Pacers with 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting and five rebounds. George Hill had 11 points, four rebounds, three blocks, three assists and two steals, while Solomon Hill, Glenn Robinson III and Jordan Hill all ended with 10 points each.

Up next for Indiana is a visit to Detroit on Tuesday, with Davis and New Orleans taking Atlanta in Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday.

ORLANDO MAGIC 106, CHARLOTTE HORNETS 100

ORLANDO – At the Amway Center in Orlando, Jeremy Lin scored 17 points and Jeremy Lamb added 16 in helping the Charlotte Hornets to beat the Orlando Magic 106-100 in both teams preseason opener.

Lin, who played 25 minutes off the bench, shot 5-for-10 from the field and also dished out seven assists.

Meanwhile, Charlotte forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left the game in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury, following a foul that saw him going to the floor.

Head coach Steve Clifford confirmed afterwards that the 22-year-old was treated by the club’s medical staff, but was also taken to the hospital Saturday night for additional evaluation.

Andrew Nicholson led the way for the Magic with 23 points and eight rebounds in a reserve role, while shooting guard Victor Oladipo finished with 16 points, five rebounds and three assists in the defeat for Orlando, which went just 6-of-26 from three-point range.

In their next NBA preseason meeting, Charlotte will face Miami on Sunday night, while Orlando plays the same opponent in Louisville, on Wednesday night.
