CHICAGO BULLS 114, MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 105
WINNIPEG — E’Twaun Moore scored 18 points in a reserve role and the Chicago Bulls beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 114-105 in a preseason game at MTS Centre, in Winnipeg on Saturday night.
Doug McDermott connected on four of his seven 3-point attempts on his way to scoring 16 points off the bench as well, while Kirk Hinrich finished with 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting.
He was also 3 of 3 from long range.
Bobby Portis had 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Bulls, who scored 65 points in the first half.
Karl-Anthony Towns grabbed his first double-double in his NBA career, after scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Fellow rookie Tyus Jones led the way for the Timberwolves with 18 points and shot 5 of 9 from the floor, including 3 of 3 from behind the arch, while going 5 of 5 from the free throw line and dishing out nine assists.
Gorgui Dieng added 13 points, Shabazz Muhammad bagged 12 points and Nemanja Bjelica grabbed 11 points and nine boards in the defeat.
Jimmy Butler played 23 minutes for Chicago and finished with five points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Bulls attempted 36 three-pointers and were successful at knocking down 16.
Reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins had nine points in 24 minutes for Minnesota.
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS 97, BROOKLYN NETS 95
ALBANY, N.Y. — T.J. McConnell scored a jumper with 6.5 seconds left to earn the Philadelphia 76ers a 97-95 preseason positive result over the Brooklyn Nets at Times Union Center.
Robert Covington led the way though for the 76ers with a solid overall performance of 23 points, eight rebounds, five steals and two assists in 24 minutes.
Hollis Thompson had 17 points and six rebounds and Jerami Grant added 12 points for Philadelphia.
Jarrett Jack, who knocked down the tying 3-pointer with 29.3 seconds left, was the leading scorer for the Nets with 20 points, while going 11 of 11 from the charity line.
Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson each had 13 points in the defeat for Brooklyn.
The Philadelphia 76ers will next travel to face the Knicks on Monday, while the Nets are at home against the Celtics on Wednesday.
