NBA Preseason Scores On Oct. 16: Grizzlies, Hawks Win

GRIZZLIES 95, THUNDER 78

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — JaMychal Green scored 18 points and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 94-78 in a preseason game on Friday night, as both teams rested several stars.

Green, who played 21-minutes off the bench, went 8 of 11 from the floor and pulled down six rebounds, while backup center Ryan Hollins added 16 points on 6 of 6 shooting from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line.

Memphis (4-0) rested several starters and star players, including Mike Conley, Courtney Lee, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, along with Tony Allen and Beno Udrih.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (3-1) were without Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka and it showed, as the travelers dropped their first game of the preseason.

Anthony Morrow led the way for Oklahoma City with 16 points off the bench, and Steven Adams added 15 points and seven boards, for the visitors, who shot 29 of 79 from the floor as a team for 36.7 percent and were 19.4 percent from 3-pointers on 7 of 36 shooting.

Russ Smith had 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in a starting role and Jeff Green added 15 points, four assists, four steals and three boards for Memphis, which remained undefeated after four games in preseason.

KNICKS 101, CELTICS 95

NEW YORK — Derrick Williams scored 19 points in a reserve role, and the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics 101-95 to stay unbeaten in the preseason on Friday night.

Williams, who hit three 3-pointers from five attempts, played a team-high 27 minutes and grabbed five rebounds.

Kyle O’Quinn finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks for the Knicks, as no New York starters scored in double figures.

Carmelo Anthony and Arron Afflalo were the top scorers for the Knicks starters with eight points each.

Isaiah Thomas scored 13 points and Tyler Zeller added 12 for Boston, which was suffering its first preseason loss.

HAWKS 91, MAVERICKS 84

DALLAS — Al Horford finished with 16 points, five rebounds and helped the Atlanta Hawks beat the Dallas Mavericks 91-84 on Friday night and remain unbeaten in preseason.

Shelvin Mack scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half for the Hawks, while Dennis Schroder had 11 and Lamar Patterson chipped in with 10 for Atlanta to win its fourth preseason contest.

John Jenkins scored 16 points to lead Dallas, which remains winless in this preseason.

Star forward Dirk Nowitzki made his preseason debut for the Mavericks and finished with six points and seven assists in 18 minutes.

However, Deron Williams (strained left calf) and Chandler Parsons (right knee surgery) played no part again.
