GOLDEN STATE 95, TORONTO RAPTORS 87
SAN JOSE, Calif. (BOX SCORE) — Defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors beat the Toronto Raptors 95-87 in their preseason opener Monday night.
Leandro Barbosa, who was 7-for-9 from the floor, scored 15 points and Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson both added 14 in the win for the Warriors at the SAP Center at San Jose in California.
Curry, who shot 5-for-7 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-pointers, fouled out with 6:25 left in the third quarter.
Big man Marreese Speights ended with 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench and James Michael McAdoo ended with 10 points in a reserve role as well for the Warriors, who were guided by interim head coach Luke Walton – filling in for Steve Kerr, as he recovers from back surgery.
DeMarre Carroll led the way for the Raptors with 15 points. He scored 10 of his total points in the first quarter on 4-for-7 shooting.
Norman Powell finished with 13 points and DeMar DeRozan adding 12 points, while All-Star guard Kyle Lowry, who starred in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers, was rested on Monday night with a sore right groin.
TRAIL BLAZERS 109, KINGS 105
PORTLAND, Ore. — Marco Belinelli scored 32 points off the bench to lead the Sacramento Kings to an overtime 109-105 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in preseason action Monday night.
The former San Antonio Spurs forward shot 12-for-18 from the floor and knock down four three-pointers on the night.
DeMarcus Cousins had 22 points and seven rebounds, Darren Collison ended with 21 points and 10 assists and Kosta Koufos finished with 12 points and eight boards for the Kings.
Rajon Rondo, who signed with the Kings in the offseason scored five points, five rebounds and three assists and two steals in 19 minutes.
Damian Lillard had 17 points for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Meyers Leonard, who played with an ankle injury he picked up during the game, finished with 14 points and eight boards and Maurice Harkless ended with 14 points and six boards in the defeat for the Blazers.
FENERBAHCE ULKER 101, BROOKLYN NETS 96
NEW YORK (BOX SCORE)– NBA outfits Brooklyn Nets were beaten 101-96 by Turkey’s Fenerbahce Ulker in a preseason warmup at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, on Monday night.
Former NBA lottery pick Jan Vesely led the way for Fenerbahce Ulker with 18 points and six rebounds, with Bogdan Bogdanovic, a 2014 Phoenix Suns draft pick, supporting with 17 points.
Ex-NBA player Luigi Datome added 16 off the bench and Kostas Sloukas collected a double-double of 11 points and 11 assists for the Istanbul side.
Fenerbahce went 11-for-21 for 52.4 percent from three-point range.
Brook Lopez scored 18 points in the home defeat for the Brooklyn Nets, with Wayne Ellington added 16.
Former 76ers forward Thomas Robinson grabbed 12 points, 16 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, while Thaddeus Young had 12 points and six boards for the Nets, who shot 43.2 percent from the floor.
