NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Florida State remained No. 1 in the latest Associated Press’ NCAA College Football poll, released on Tuesday afternoon.
In fact, the top four teams from the previous release – Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma, kept their respective places in the rankings.
The Florida State Seminoles collected 46 of the first place votes and 1456 points to stay as the top ranked team after a battling 37-31 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their opener last Saturday, while Alabama (1), Oregon (5) and Oklahoma (2) all recorded wins in their respective openers to stay within touching distance of the top slot.
Meanwhile, Auburn moved up one place to No. 5 in the poll, following their 45-21 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks at the weekend.
The Tigers leaped ahead of Ohio State, who despite starting the season with a win over the Navy, dropped three places to No. 8.
Georgia, who collected two first place votes, is at No. 6, Michigan State at No. 7, Texas A&M at No. 9 and Baylor at No. 10 completed the top 10 teams in the rankings.
