California, which was idle over the weekend, having been on a bye, enters this game looking to bounce back from the 30-24 defeat suffered at the hands of Utah in the last time.
They currently sit second in the Pac-12 North standings behind Stanford with a 2-1 league record.
UCLA, in the meantime, is on a two-game losing streak after dropping back-to-back games against Arizona State and Stanford in the last two outings.
When California visits in Week 8 Thursday night, they will battle against a Bruins (4-2) side that is unranked for the first time this season, this after starting the 2015 college football campaign ranked No. 13 in the AP poll.
After winning four consecutive games, UCLA jumped to as high as No. 7 in the AP Top 25, but two straight poor results in the Pac-12 caused them to drop out of the rankings.
Despite poor results in recent weeks, though, the Bruins still have lots of firepower to get back to winning ways.
Freshman quarterback Josh Rosen has so far thrown for 1569 yards and 12 touchdowns, despite throwing six interceptions in the last four games.
Junior running back Paul Perkins, who has rushed for 681 yards and eight touchdowns thus far, has taken his career tally to 25 touchdowns, which is just outside of making the school’s all-time top 10 list.
For Cal, in the meantime, Jared Goff is also having a productive season – passing so far for 1970 yards and 17 touchdowns.
However, he will be hoping to rebound from his shocking five turnovers against Utah the last time out.
Also in Week 8, No. 22 Temple will seek to stay undefeated this season when it travels to face-off with East Carolina in an American Athletic clash.
The Owls (6-0) are sitting atop of the East standings after winning three straight in conference action, but the Pirates (4-3, 2-1) are on relatively good form, after winning three of its last four games – and they will want to take victory at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to push up the standings and stay eligible for a Bowl game again.
