(Sporting Alert) — The following are the results on the opening night of the NCAAFCollege Football – season on Thursday, with No. 6 South Carolina and No. 24 USC among the winners on the night.

After a long delay with less than 10-minutes left in the game, the sixth-ranked Gamecocks came away with an easy 27-10 victory over North Carolina.

“Our defense took back a big play, and then we held them down around the goal line. Our offense wasn’t very good in the fourth quarter, but we did some good running and obviously hit some big plays in the game,” said South Carolina head Coach Steve Spurrier, who was happy with the overall result.

Junior Defensive End Jadeveon Clowney was full of energy in the game and he certainly helped to get the entire going.

Defensive Coordinator Lorenzo Ward said: I think it wasn’t just Clowney. I think the entire defense got winded.

“We knew coming into the ball game that they were going to hurry up. We tried to simulate it in practice, but that was the fastest team I’ve ever seen.”

Meanwhile, No. 24 USC picked up an easy 30-13 victory over Hawaii also on Thursday night.
