MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – The following is the NFL Preseason fixtures for Week 2 on Thursday, August 18, as coaches continue to shape their respective squads for the upcoming season, which gets underway in September.
Among the teams in action on Thursday night is the Seattle Seahawks, the recently listed Preseason No. 1 team in the ESPN Power Rankings. NFL Power Rankings: Preseason edition
Seattle will take on the Minnesota Vikings at CenturyLink Field, starting at 10 p.m.
The Seahawks defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 17-16 on Saturday in their opening NFL preseason game, with rookie quarterback Trevone Boykin masterminding a last-minute 88-yard touchdown drive in four plays.
The former TCU standout, who is hoping to be Russell Wilson’s backup at QB, replaced the starter after one possession and went 16 of 26 on completed passes for 188 yards and a touchdown.
Boykin connected with Tanner McEvoy with a 37-yard scoring pass before handing the ball off to Troy Pope for the 2-point conversion as time expired.
Boykin is battling with Jake Heaps for the back-up quarterback place in the squad.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers, who edged the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, will take on the Oakland Raiders at Lambeau Field, starting at 8 pm, the New England Patriots will battle with the Chicago Bears at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, at 8 pm, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers will do battle at Heinz Field, at 7 pm.
The other NFL preseason games on Thursday night come from the Ford Field in Detroit where the Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals battle, and in Cleveland, where the Browns will play hosts to the Atlanta Falcons at FirstEnergy Stadium, at 8 pm.
