Video Reactions: Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers Canceled Again

By:CEDRIC HANCOCK Published on: November 30, 2020 6:17 pm Leave a Comment

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers seems to be on the move again, following the news that the league has postponed the matchup for a third time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the COVID-19 outbreak in Baltimore has forced the league to postponed to game to Wednesday. This means the game becomes the first of the NFL season to be moved three times.

At the time of this report, the NFL said the game is now slated to kick-off at 3:40 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

The Ravens and Steelers clash was initially scheduled for Thanksgiving night, but was moved to Sunday and then shifted to Tuesday night.

The Week 12 clash was shifted again after more Ravens players were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Baltimore placed six players on the list on Saturday, which pushed the total players at that time to almost 20 over the weekend.

On Monday, the Ravens reported that they officially placed three more starters on their reserve/COVID-19 list.

Two 2019 Pro Bowlers – tight end Mark Andrews and outside linebacker Matthew Judon – were among the trio placed on the list Monday. Wide receiver Willie Snead IV was also added.

With the number of positive tests coming out of the Baltimore camp, it is not a surprised to see the league postponing the clash between AFC North rivals for the third time in six days.

In all honesty, Sunday’s game was never going to happen, at least not after the information reaching SportingAlert. Even though several players were optimistic about taking the field, the rapid growth in positive tests made Tuesday’s game almost impossible to go ahead.

Moving the game forward an extra day doesn’t seem like much, as what will an additional day do?

It might not seem like much, but this shows that the NFL, at least at the moment, is trying to do everything possible to accommodate both teams and take the necessary precaution.

Meanwhile, ESPN is reporting that the Steelers game against the Washington Football Club, scheduled for Sunday, is being moved to next Monday.

No surprises here!

Kansas City Chiefs Placed 3 OLs On reserve/COVID-19 list

By:Adam Fratzke Published on: November 16, 2020 6:43 pm Leave a Comment

Kansas City — The Kansas City Chiefs have placed three offensive players on reserve/COVID-19 list, as they continue preparations for their NFL Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Kansas City added three starting left tackle Eric Fisher, starting right tackle Mitchell Schwartz and recently-activated tackle Martinas Rankin on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to the NFL’s official transaction report.

However, this doesn’t mean the three players placed on the list tested positive for COVID-19 – given that anyone who comes into close contact with a person who has tested positive for the virus must also quarantine.

In fact, according to National Insider for NFL Network and NFL.com Ian Rapoport, “Fisher, at least, is a COVID-19 close contact.” Rapoport noted that he could still play this week if he gets cleared within the five day period.

It is understood that Schwartz also came into close contact with someone with the virus, rather than testing positive.

The trio now join wide receiver Mecole Hardman and practice squad defensive tackle Braxton Hoyett on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Both Hardman and Hoyett were placed on the list last week.

If the trio and especially Schwartz, who missed the last three games with a back injury – are unavailable for this weekend’s Sunday Night Football game, it would leave the Chiefs dangerously thin at the offensive tackle position.

It is believed Kansas City is now looking at the likes of undrafted free agent Yasir Durant and Mike Remmers as the starters at tackle, while Bryan Witzmann could possibly be a backup.

Today’s news came on the back of the Kansas City Chiefs asking the NFL to investigate the NFLPA, following a union representative reportedly failing to follow COVID-19 guidelines at the team facility.

Sounds like Eric Fisher, at least, is a COVID-19 close contact. So given the timing, he could play this week if he gets cleared. https://t.co/82RcEE13h5

Dolphins Added Christian Wilkins, Kyle Van Noy To COVID-19 List

By:Kim-Wellington Published on: November 12, 2020 7:34 pm Leave a Comment

MIAMI, FL – The Miami Dolphins, on Thursday afternoon, announced that the team added three players to the reserve/COVID-19 list as preparations for Sunday’s NFL Week 10 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers continues.

Following the news that wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list, Miami also confirmed that linebacker Kyle Van Noy, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and receiver Matt Cole were added to the list.

It is understood that the trio were placed on the list because they either tested positive for COVID-19 or are considered high-risk close contacts to someone who returned a positive test.

This news mean all three players are in doubt for Sunday’s game with the Chargers.

Both Wilkins and Van Noy played in last Sunday’s Week 9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, and are key starters on Miami’s No. 4 scoring defense. A member of the coach staff confirmed that if they were to miss Sunday’s game, it would be a big blow to the team.

Wide receiver Matt Cole is a member of the practice squad.

On Sunday news broke that an assistant coach of the Dolphins tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday, which resulted in four additional assistant coaches missing the game in Arizona after contact tracing. Miami Dolphins Missing 5 Assistants Due To COVID-19

It is being reported that at least one of those coaches returned to practice this week.

NFL Week 8 Recaps, Photos, Box Scores – Chiefs Impressive, Steelers Stay Perfect

By:KOBY FRANZ | Staff Writer Published on: November 1, 2020 9:17 pm Leave a Comment

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain the NFL lone undefeated team, while the New York Jets are still to taste victory, making them the only team in the league without a win this season. Week 8 Reports

The Jets (0-8) are still the NFL’s only winless team after they were beaten 35-9 at the Kansas City Chiefs, with as KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes erupted for 416 yards passing and five touchdowns. Mahomes completed 31 of 42 passes on the day as the Chiefs won three straight. BOX SCORE

“It’s always fun to go out there and score touchdowns and do all of that different type of stuff but we’ve kind of been saying all year long that we have a lot of ways to beat teams,’’ Mahomes said.

“Today they were doing a good job of kind of stuffing up the run so we took it to the air and threw the ball and made plays happen that way.

“Now you can kind of see it. We can throw the ball on teams and we can run the ball on teams and it’s about taking what’s there and finding the best way to win a football game.’’

Chiefs coach Andy Reid was full of praises for his star quarterback, revealing that he was “he was spot on today.”

Mahomes had three touchdowns passes that went at least 25 yards in the air. This feat saw him becoming the first quarterback to achieve that since he did it in a game against the Oakland Raiders last season.

  • UPDATED: [LATEST] NFL Injury Reports In Week 8 Action: Nov. 1

“It was a nice job by Patrick,’’ Reid said. “He had complete command of everything going on.

“He was spot on today. He was seeing and shooting and was very accurate with those things, seeing them and then his throwing was good, too.

“He’s got a good feel for the game, what’s happening down and distance-wise, field position, all of those things. I have full trust in him.’’

Travis Kelce had eight catches for 109 yards and touchdown for the Chiefs, while Tyreek Hill took four catches for 98 yards and two scores. Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson each had scoring catches for Kansas City (7-1).

Meanwhile, the Steelers managed to hold on to beat the Baltimore Ravens 28-24 in an exciting contest and stay perfect for yet another week. BOX SCORE

Sunday’s win means Pittsburgh matched another milestone set by the 1978 team, starting a season with a 7-0 record for only the second time in franchise history.

In the back-and-forth contest, which saw several lead changes, Chase Claypool delivered the go-ahead touchdown catch with 7:32 left. The Steelers then forced Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson into throwing an incomplete pass in the final play of the game.

“You’re going to be up against it if you don’t play good,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said. “We can’t allow the emotions of the moment for us to miss that fact. I am proud of these guys. I am proud of the fight.

“I am proud of how they supported one another. It’s important that we don’t lie to ourselves. Boy, we did not function well in a lot of ways today.”

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns for the Steelers.

“This is a really, really good football team,” Roethlisberger said of the Ravens. “They’re ranked really high on defense for a reason. They got after us, and it wasn’t pretty.

“I don’t think at any point in this game, offensively, was it a pretty game. The first half wasn’t pretty, second half wasn’t pretty. Nothing about this game was pretty from our perspective until the game was over and we looked at the scoreboard and saw that we had won. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.”

In other results from today’s games, the Minnesota Vikings held on for a 28-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers, while in Cincinnati, the Bengals stunned the Tennessee Titans 31-20 to snap a three-game losing streak. Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow was 26-of-37 for 249 yards, two touchdowns and no interception for the Bengals.

Elsewhere, New England was beaten 24-21 by the Buffalo Bills, which extended the Patriots’ losing streak to four straight games for the first time since 2002. Daniel Carlson kicked three field goals to help the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Cleveland Browns,16-6. while the Indianapolis Colts secured a 41-21 win over the Detroit Lions.

New Orleans Saints won four straight games with a 26-23 victory over the Chicago Bears in overtime, Denver Broncos completed a remarkable comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers, for a 31-30 win.

Miami beat Los Angeles Rams 28-17 with rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa finishing with 12-of-22 passing for 93 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions for the Dolphins in his first NFL start. BOX SCORE

“I don’t think I played to the standard of what this offense is capable of. There were certain plays where I could have stepped up and made the right throw, made the right decision. But it’s good that we still came out with the win,” Tagovailoa said. “Thank God we’ve got a good defense.”

Dolphins coach Brian Flores added about Tagovailoa: “We won. We won the game. It’s a team football game. It’s not a one-man show. He made enough plays for us to win the ballgame.

“Collectively, if we don’t play well in one phase, we have to pick each other up. It’s his first NFL game against a real good defense. You got to take that into account, as well. But the rest of the team picked him up, and we got the W.”

UPDATED: [LATEST] NFL Injury Reports In Week 8 Action: Nov. 1

By:KOBY FRANZ | Staff Writer Published on: November 1, 2020 2:53 pm Leave a Comment

MIAMI, FL – Here are the latest injury updates so far in the NFL as Week 8 got underway with another loaded schedule on Sunday, November 1.

Embed from Getty Images

Baltimore Ravens will have to complete their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers without  left tackle Ronnie Stanley after he was carted off the field late in the first quarter with a lower left leg injury.

Ravens medical staffs were seen placing an air cast on Stanley’s leg and it looked as though he was in pain for several minutes.

Today’s injury comes only two days after Stanley, a top rated pass blocker this season, signed a five-year, $98.75 million extension that includes $70.9 million in guarantees.

Baltimore is now without two of its starting offensive linemen in with right guard Tyre Phillips, who left earlier with an ankle injury, also on the injury table.

In the same game, Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson left the action and was taken to the blue medical tent with what seems to be a hamstring injury. He, however, returned after the first half niggle.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Bills starting center Mitch Morse suffered the fifth concussion of his career against the New England Patriots. He will not return to Sunday’s game.

Embed from Getty Images

Morse, who missed time in training camp with a concussion, was sidelined for six weeks in 2019 due to similar problems.

Adam Humphries of the Tennessee Titans was carted from the game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a head injury. He will not return.

Humphries was smashed down by Jessie Bates, who delivered the hit in the head/neck area after the wide receiver made a big catch between two defenders.

Humphries was down for a while, but got up and sat on the cart himself instead of being taken off by a stretcher. Good sign, although he could miss a few weeks.

Detroit Lions’ Kenny Golladay left the game against the Indianapolis Colts with a hip injury.

The wide receiver went to the locker room early late in the first half and was listed him as questionable to return by the Lions.

RECAP: Steelers Beat Texans, 28-21, Stay Perfect This Season

By:Adam Fratzke Published on: September 27, 2020 8:26 pm Leave a Comment

PITTSBURGH, Sporting Alert – Ben Roethlisberger threw for 237 yards and James Conner ran for 109 yards and the Pittsburgh Steelers secured a close 28-21 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Trailing heading into the interval, the Steelers managed to keep the Texans’ offense at bay in the second half to rally for the seven-point victory to remain perfect this season with a 3-0 record for the first time in a decade.

Meanwhile, the defeat saw the Texans, who managed just 51 yards and two first downs across the final 30 minutes, stayed winless on the term after falling to 0-3.

Roethlisberger completed 23-of-36 passes and found Eric Ebron and JuJu Smith-Schuster for touchdowns in his franchise-record 221st appearance for Pittsburgh. Conner carried the ball 18 times at 6.1 yards per carry with one touchdown and added 40 yards in the air.

Conner’s 12-yard sprint and Roethlisberger to Smith-Schuster 2pt conversion put the Steelers ahead 28-21 with 6:24 to go and then forced their third three-and-out of the second half on Houston’s next possession to help setup the win.

“We’re a four-quarter team,” Conner told reporters. “Our defense allowed us to get back in it and … (if) you get us back on offense, we’re going to get it going sooner or later.”

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt said: “You’re not going to win football doing what we do in the fourth quarter these last two weeks, giving up all of these runs.”

Houston’s Deshaun Watson finished 19 of 27 for 264 yards with two touchdowns and the interceptions in the defeat.

Embed from Getty Images

“We’ve got 13 more games,” said Watson. “So it’s a lot of opportunities out there. We’ve got to keep building and keep pushing forward.”

Randall Cobb had four catches for 95 yards and a touchdown, while Will Fuller V also took a catch for a score for the Texans.

David Johnson was the other scorer for the visitors, following his 2-yard sprint that gave Houston a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter.

NEXT TIME

Texans: Host Minnesota next Sunday seeking to avoid a 0-4 start for the first time since 2008.

Steelers: Make the trip to Tennessee next week to take on a fellow unbeaten Titans (3-0) side.
