NFL Round-up And Scores From Week 5: Oct. 8

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers

MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert — NFL round-up and scores from Week 5 on Sunday, October 8.

Among the winners in the latest set of fixtures were the Green Bay Packers, who defeated the Dallas Cowboys in a thriller, and the Kansas City Chiefs, who remained undefeated this season.

PACKERS 35, COWBOYS 31

ARLINGTON, Texas — Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns, including a 12-yard scoring pass to Davante Adams with 11 seconds remaining to guide Green Bay to a comeback 35-31 win over Dallas on Sunday.

Trailing 31-28 with 1:13 left after Dak Prescott ran in from 11 yards to give Dallas the lead, Rodgers responded by leading a nine-play 75-yard drive in just 1:02, and connected with Adams to steal the road win, nine months after the Packers’ divisional playoff victory at the same venue.

Rodgers finished 19-of-29 for 221 yards with no interception and ran for 32 more yards on the ground.

Adams caught seven passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns for the Packers (4-1), who have won three in a row.

Aaron Jones ran 19 times for 125 yards and a score to become the first Green Bay running back with 100 yards in his first start as a rookie since Samkon Gado 12-years-ago.

Dak Prescott went 25-of-36 for 251 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for Dallas (2-3).

Running back Ezekiel Elliott had 29 carries for 116 yards, while Cole Beasley caught two passes for TDs and Dez Bryant grabbed one in the defeat for the Cowboys, who have already matched the number of losses from the entire season last year.

NFL round-up and scores - Alex Smith

Alex Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL

HOUSTON — At the NRG Stadium, Alex Smith starred in the leading role for the Kansas City Chiefs in a 42-34 victory over the banged-up Houston Texans in Sunday Night Football.

Smith passed for 324 yards and three touchdowns, including two scoring tosses to Charcandrick West for the Chiefs (5-0), who have now won three hard-fought road games already this season.

Kansas City has won its first five games to start a season for the first time since 2013 when it opened up 9-0.

Rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson threw for 261 yards and five touchdowns for Houston, who had to play the major part of the game without defensive stalwart J.J. Watt, who broke his left leg early in the contest.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year suffered the injury, which the Texans confirmed to be a tibial plateau fracture – in the first quarter and left with tears in his eyes.

DeAndre Hopkins caught three passed for touchdowns and Will Fuller V pulled down two for scores for Houston (2-3).

In other NFL round-up and scores in Week 5, Cam Newton passed for 355 yards and three TDs and the Carolina Panthers held off Detroit Lions 27-24, Miami Dolphins earned a 16-10 win over the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles raced away to a 34-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Elsewhere, the New York Giants fell to 0-5 after losing to the Los Angeles Chargers, who got their first win of the season, while Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-9.
