No. 20 Duke Beats NC State 88-78, Ends 3-game Losing Skid

RALEIGH, N.C. Sporting Alert — Grayson Allen scored 28 points and No. 20 Duke beat North Carolina State 88-78 in their college basketball fixture on Saturday and end a three-game losing streak.

Allen, who leads the team in scoring this season, shot 11-of-17 from the floor and finished with seven rebounds and seven assists for the Blue Devils (15-5, 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) who outscored the Wolfpack 52-35 in the second half.

Freshman guard Brandon Ingram made four 3-pointers as he continues to impress this season when adding 25 points and seven rebounds.

Ingram was scoring in double-digits for the 13th successive game, which started with a 24 point performance against Indiana on Dec. 2.

Luke Kennard had 12 points and Marshall Plumlee finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for Duke, which shot 54.2 percent from the floor.

Anthony Barber scored 19 points to lead the way for NC State, which got 14 points each from Caleb Martin and Abdul-Malik Abu.

The Wolfpack (11-9, 1-6) led by 10 points with 3:41 left in the first half, but were unable to use it to their advantage, as the Blue Devils used a 14-0 run in the second half to turn a 52-56 deficit with 14:04 left into a 66-56 lead with 9:26 remaining.

NC State has now dropped six of its last seven games overall this season and sits third from bottom in the ACC standings.

Before Saturday’s win, Duke had dropped games Clemson, Notre Dame and Syracuse, and was slowly heading out of the AP top 25 rankings.

Next up for the Blue Devils is a big time ACC match at No. 15 Miami (FL) on Monday.

NC State will next play host to Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
