DALLAS —— Marcus Carr scored 17 points and led three Texas players in double-digit scoring and the No. 7 Longhorns beat Stanford 72-62 in the USLBM Pac-12 Coast to Coast Challenge at American Airlines Center here in Dallas, on Sunday.
Carr, who was 6 of 13 from the field also had five assists and three rebounds, while Sir’Jabari Rice and Timmy Allen each scored 15 points for Texas (9-1) to win three straight since losing 85-78 in overtime to No. 17 Illinois earlier this month.
Michael Jones had 17 points in a balanced effort to lead the way for Stanford, which shot 43% overall and 44% from the 3-point range. Brandon Angel added 11 points and Spencer Jones finished with 10 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinal (4-7) who were losing for the fourth time in five games.
Texas forced 18 turnovers and scored 19 points off them while scoring 22 points in the paint to Stanford’s 16. The Cardinal bench outscored the Longhorns’ bench 33-19.
