Culver, who shot 8 of 11 from the field, also grabbed four rebounds with two steals, while Emmitt Matthews Jr. added 13 points on 4 of 6 shooting to go with five rebounds for the Mountaineers (8-2), who improved to 4-0 at home this season.
Oscar Tshiebwe recorded a double-double with 12 points on 6 for 9 shooting to go with 15 rebounds for West Virginia, which led 34-26 at halftime and shot 43.1% overall from the field in the game.
Quirin Emanga paced Northeastern with 13 points and Tyson Walker finished with 10 points and three assists for the Huskies (1-5, 0-5) who remain without a win away from home this season.
West Virginia, which made seven of its first eight shots and then followed that up with a 1-8 shooting display, led 21-17 at the halfway mark in the first half before building a solid lead to take control of the contest.
The Mountaineers pushed their lead to 59-39 with 8:39 left in the game and led by as many as 24 points in the game.
West Virginia will return to Big 12 conference play next time out when it travels to face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday live at 4 p.m. on ESPN2.
