LOS ANGELES – USC will end the brilliant start of Utah in the coming fixture, according to the early lines released by Odds Shark at the weekend.
Utah moved up to ranked No. 3 in the latest AP top 25 college football rankings, published on Sunday, with many even believing the Pac-12 front-runner is good enough to be No. 1.
But despite the undefeated start to the season, the Utes (6-0) who received 16 first-place votes from the voting panel in the AP top 25 poll, are picked to lose to the Trojans by a field goal, according to Odds Shark.
USC (3-3) leads the recent five-game series between these two sides 3-2, but Utah won the last meeting 24-21 last October.
Moving into Saturday’s game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the head-to-head record sees USC holding Utah to 15.80 points per game, while scoring 21.40.
Turnovers could also be a big factor again when these two sides meet, with the Trojans forcing the Utes to average 2.20 per contest.
But despite showing some fighting signs in the defeat at Notre Dame at the weekend, things aren’t looking too good for USC, which suffered back-to-back losses in recent weeks and are still without a head coach.
Utah, on the other hand, is playing playoff type football at the moment, and is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games on the road.
The travelers are also 5-0 SU in the last 5 road games, according to Odds Shark.
The early lines release may be shocking to a lot of people, but it is unlikely those numbers will stay the same throughout the entire week.
Look for changes as the game draws closer.
NOTE: The last time USC dropped three games in a row was at the end of the 2012 season when the team was beaten by UCLA and Notre Dame in its final two regular-season games before falling to Georgia Tech in their Bowl game.
