Panama beat Mexico 2-1 in CONCACAF Gold Cup opener – Video

PASADENA, Calif. (Sporting Alert) — Gabriel Torres scored twice and Panama beat Mexico 2-1 in their opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday at the Rose Bowl Sunday.

Torres gave Panama the lead when he fired home from the penalty spot in the seventh minute, but Mexico pulled a goal back through Marco Fabian just before halftime when he picked up a through ball and fired it past the advancing goalkeeper.

Earlier, Fabrice Reuperne scored with the last kick of the game to guide Martinique to a 1-0 victory over Canada in their opening round game.
