Florida will battle against Boston College in the Roman Legends Classic on Thursday night at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tipoff time for this game is set for 9:30 p.m. ET and live television coverage is on ESPN, WatchESPN.com and the ESPN App.
Thursday’s game will mark the third meeting between Florida and Boston College with the Gators leading the series against the Eagles 2-0. This the first meeting between the two programs since the 1994-95 season when Florida won 91-65 on Nov. 29, 1994.
LAST TIME OUT:
After a long delay, Florida (1-0) finally opened its season with a 76-69 victory over Army on Wednesday, as Tre Mann get the campaign started by scoring a career-high 19 points and transfer Tyree Appleby jumped off the bench to add 15 second-half points in his Gators debut in “Bubbleville.”
Florida had three games canceled at the start of the season, including clash against then-No. 4 Virginia. Matchups against UMass Lowell and Oklahoma were also canceled.
Boston College (1-2), in the meantime, has played a fairly challenging schedule thus far, despite the delay to the season due the COVID-19 pandemic. The Eagles have a pair of losses against Big East teams – No. 3 Villanova and St. John’s, but managed to pick up a solid win against a talented Rhode Island team.
Wynston Tabbs, who grabbed a double-double in the 69-64 win over Rhode Island, leads five Eagles players averaging in double figures in scoring so far this season. Tabbs is pacing the way with 16.7 points and 5.0 rebounds, while Jay Heath is scoring 14.5 points per game, CJ Felder averaging 11.3 and Makai Ashton-Langford putting outing 10.7.
Rich Kelly is the other player averaging in double digits for the Eagles with 10.3 points per game.
Florida, meanwhile, will be hoping to shake off any fatigue from the game on Wednesday as it makes the swift turnaround.
