MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Everton are looking to add big names to their roster for next season and it is understood that Manchester United winger Nani is high on their list, The Sun is reporting.
According to the UK newspaper, Everton manager Roberto Martinez is interested in bringing Nani to Goodison Park to bolster his attack, and has inquired about his loan status for next season.
After seeing his form dropped in the last two seasons, the Portugal World Cup winger was sent out on loan with Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon, where he impressed on his return to his former club.
However, the 28-year-old is due back at Old Trafford this summer to rejoin his parent club, following reports the Sporting Lisbon decided against meeting his £15 million value for a permanent move.
It is believed that Everton are interested in signing Nani on loan for next season, with Martinez reportedly a keen admirer of the speedy winger, who would provide his squad with more options, given his ability to cross the ball with both feet.
But landing the services of Nani could prove to be a challenging one for Everton, as the player would rather stay with Manchester United and battle for a spot in Louis van Gaal’s new setup.
Everton currently sit 10th in the Premier League table standings.
During his loan spell in Portugal, Nani scored 11 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions and he believes the move was perfect for him to regain his confidence.
Nani join Manchester United in 2007 with Cristiano Ronaldo on a £17m deal with lots of promises.
Despite being inconsistent in the past few seasons, the attacker is confident that it is the ideal time for him to return to Old Trafford.
He is set for a challenging time though, given the recent capture of Memphis Depay, who will join the English Premier League side in the summer transfer window.
