Reports: Manchester United Targets Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi

(Sporting Alert) — After missing out on several targets in the summer transfer window, it is believed that Manchester United are eyeing moves for Porto centre-backs Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi when the window reopens.

Manager David Moyes still wants to bolster his midfield, but it is understood that the new boss is also looking to strengthen things at the back, as United struggles to keep clean sheets in competitions.

According to the Daily Star, it would cost the English Premier League champions £65m to secure the signature of the Porto pair, with the Portugal club supposedly valued Otamendi at £25m and Mangala, at £40 million.

Reports are also claiming that Manchester United is also interested in signing Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.

The Express reports that Moyes is looking to beat fellow EPL side Tottenham to the signature of the Argentine international who had been linked with a move to Old Trafford before.

One thing for sure though, and Moyes himself has also promised, come January, he will make his moves earlier and get his deals done before deadline day.
