This means that Costel Pantilimon, who started in goal in the 7-0 win over Norwich City in the Premier League Saturday, will keep his place between the sticks.
England No. 1 Hart was dropped after a series of mistakes.
His manager Pellegrini believes that he will bounce back from those mistakes, but revealed that it was time to give Hart a break.
“I don’t know when Joe will come back to the team,” Pellegrini said. “It is very important for him to have a rest.
“He has played all the matches in the last two and a half years.
“We will see in the future what we must do. For today, Pantilimon is playing.”
The Manchester City manager also confirmed that captain and leading center-back Vincent Kompany will miss Tuesday night’s game as he continues to recover from a groin injury.
He also said that striker Stevan Jovetic, who suffered a calf injury during the early stages of last week’s Capital One Cup win over Newcastle United will be out for at least three weeks.
“Jovetic has at least three weeks (out),” the Chilean added. “Except Vincent Kompany and Richard Wright, all the other players are fit.”
The last time these two sides met, the EPL side came away with a 2-1 victory in the Russian capital, with leading striker Sergio Aguero scoring a brace.
Manchester City will qualify for the knock-out round if they win and group leaders Bayern Munich avoid defeat against Viktoria Plzen.
Bayern Munich lead Group D with nine points, with City second on six. CSKA Moscow are on three points and Plzen are still to get off the mark and have a goal difference of -9.
