DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Results and winnings from the NASCAR Sprint Unlimited Cup Series Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach in Florida on Saturday.

Victory went to Denny Hamlin, who secured the top spot for the second time after leading for 27 of the 75 laps in his No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota. He was one of only eight cars that finished the race.

“Homestead kind of came out of the blue, especially how our year had went,” he said. “We started feeling better.

“I realized after the win in Homestead, how I was feeling, that we run as good as I feel. When I feel comfortable in the car … I can do just about anything I need to do to be a race winner.”

Second place went to Brad Keselowski, while Kyle Busch was third.

Amongst those who failed to finished were Danica Patrick, as well as follow Chevrolet’s Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.

Although disappointed, Stewart did not seem too concerned about completing just 35 of the 75 laps.

“It’s just a motor. If it was getting ready for the race you would be a little more concerned,” Stewart said.

“It’s just for qualifying. They pay the big check a week from tomorrow, not tomorrow.”
