Millrose Games 2014 Results; Wins For Cain and Lagat

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert): The Following are the results from the 107th NYRR Millrose Games at The New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory on Saturday.

American teenage sensation Mary Cain was amongst the winners on the day, as she warmed up for the USA Indoor Championships by the women’s Wanamaker Women’s Mile.

The 17-year-old made her move with 600m to pull away from her Nike Oregon Project teammate Treniere Moser and then ran a storming final 200m on her way to clocking four minute, and 27.73 seconds. Moser was second in 4:28.86, with third going Nicole Sifuentes in 4:28.97.

“The goal today was to compete and race hard. That’s what I did and I’m really happy,” said Cain, who celebrated in her victory lap with Moser.

“I always love getting the flowers, it’s always like the best part. I wanted to share it with Treniere cause she did so awesome. That was definitely very special.”

American high school senior Alexa Efraimson, ran 4:32.15, for sixth.

On the men’s side, veteran Bernard Lagat, competing in his tenth consecutive NYRR Millrose Games, set a new American record for 2000 meters after running 4:54.74 for the win.

“It feels so good,” said Lagat, whose main target was to take down Steve Scott’s national record of 4:58.6.

“I knew that my shape was there and I was ready to race.”
