LSU coach Paul Mainieri was delighted with the way his team responded during the latter part of the season and hopes it can carry over that form into the SEC Tournament and secure a place in the NCAA Tournament.

“Our team has grown so much over the past couple of months, and we’re looking certainly forward to the postseason,” Mainieri said, after his Tigers fell 6-2 to top-ranked Florida in the final game of the regular season on Saturday.

“We talked about finishing strong and winning our final 12 games of the season, and we nearly pulled it off, winning 11 in a row.

“We’ll go to the SEC Tournament, try to win as many games as we can, and put ourselves in the best possible position for the NCAA Tournament.”

Tennessee, with a little help in other matches, clinched a spot in the SEC Baseball Tournament for the third consecutive year and will start as the 12th seed.
