TALLAHASSEE, FL, Sporting Alert — The NCAA Baseball Tournament Super Regional game between Florida State and Sam Houston State at Dick Howser Stadium here in Tallahassee continues to be delayed because of inclement weather.
Game 2 of the best-of-three-game series was initially scheduled to go off at Noon ET, but lightning warning forced the lengthy delay. Live television coverage is on ESPN2 and streaming on WatchESPN. | Live Blog Updates.
There have been some improvements on the overall conditions, as the rain has stopped and the tarp is being removed.
Earlier, reports reaching us at SportingAlert.com suggested that the new time for the first pitch was set for 2:20 p.m. ET.
However, the area was once again in a lightning zone and start time continues to be pushed back. The new start time is 7:30 p.m.
Florida State rallied on Saturday to take Game 1 of the series 7-6, after sophomore Jackson Lueck, who had four straight RBI singles, had a walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Seminoles can punch their ticket to the eight-team College World Series this weekend with another win on Sunday.
Oregon State, the national No. 1 seed, Louisville and Texas A&M have already secured their College World Series places.
FLORIDA v WAKE FOREST: GAINSVILLE SUPER REGIONAL
Meanwhile, there is also a weather delay at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium where Florida and Wake Forest are scheduled to play Game 2 in the Gainesville Super Regional.
This matchup was supposed to start at 3:00 p.m., but a tentative start time is now listed at 3:26 p.m.
With the game at 5-4 in favour of the Wake Forest, the contest went into delay again at 5:14 p.m.
The travellers took a 4-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of home runs off Gators starter Jackson Kowar, along with a three-run shot by Gavin Sheets and a homer by Ben Breazeale before the Gators, who lead the series 1-0, made it 4-4 and lively up the contest.
The winner of the best-of-three series will punch a trip to this year’s College World Series.
