LIVERPOOL, Sporting Alert – Liverpool have handed a competitive debut to Trent Alexander-Arnold, as manager Jurgen Klopp makes 11 changes for today’s EFL Cup fourth tie against Tottenham.

Alexander-Arnold will make his senior competitive debut at right-back, with Ovie Ejaria handed his first start for the Reds in midfield.

Young prospect Kevin Stewart has also been handed a starting place in midfield, with Marko Grujic and Georginio Wijnaldum starting the middle as well.

Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge lead the attack, while Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Danny Ings and Emre Can are amongst the Substitutes.

Eric Dier will captain Tottenham today, as Mauricio Pochettino makes 10 changes to the side that drew with Bournemouth at the weekend.

As expected, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou makes his first start for Spurs.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has coached in 11 League Cup and has won seven of them, lost three and drew one. His side has scored 26 goals and conceded 10.

Heading into this fixture, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has won five of the seven League Cup games he’s taken charge in, with one ending in a draw and the other in defeat.

Klopp Reds have netted 17 goals and conceded three at the other end of the pitch.

Pochettino told Spurs TV that he is expecting a tough game against Liverpool.

“One thing is sure – it will be a very tough game because they are a team that likes to go forward and are very direct,” the boss said.

“For us, it’s the same – we need to always be aggressive and try to play with and without the ball at the same tempo.”
