The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced the Women’s Tennis Coaches’ Preseason Poll on Wednesday, with Texas A&M taking the top spot. Read more: How many SEC basketball teams ranked in the AP Top 25?
The Aggies are currently ranked fifth in the ITA preseason rankings and finished last season 33-2 overall, including a perfect record in SEC conference play. They also won both the regular season title as well as SEC Tournament Championship.
Following Texas A&M is Georgia at second place with 185 points, Vanderbilt third with 165 points, and Auburn fourth with 144 points. Florida came in fifth place at 128 points, and the Gators are followed by Tennessee sixth at 124 points and South Carolina seventh with 105 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, the LSU Tigers were voted eighth place with 103 points while Arkansas was ninth on 90 points, Ole Miss 10th on 69 points, Alabama at 11th (66pts), Mississippi State 12th (40pts), Kentucky 13th (37pts) and Missouri 14th (24pts).
This year looks to be an exciting one for women’s tennis fans across SEC country! With powerhouse teams like Texas A&M leading the charge, it will be interesting to see how other teams stack up against the Aggies throughout this upcoming season of competition!
The SEC preseason poll is voted on by the women’s tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.
