Torres could start against Brazil in Confederations Cup final: TV Channels

RIO DE JANEIRO (Sporting Alert) — Fernando Torres could keep his starting place in Spain lineup for Sunday’s FIFA Confederations Cup final against hosts Brazil.

Torres has scored five goals so far in the tournament, including four against the lowly ranked Tahiti, but it was believed that the Chelsea forward had not done enough against tougher opponents to earn a place in the starting team.

However, with fellow strike partner David Villa also struggling and Roberto Soldado remains doubtful, Torres could very well be handed with the chance to start in Rio De Janeiro again.

The final is setup to be a very interesting one, with Brazil looking to break Spain’s dominance at major championships and the Euro and World Cup champions out to put a dent in the hosts magical home run.

One thing for sure, regardless of the result, Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is determined to leave a mark for the world to see.

“We’re going to face up to them. We have to put on a show and make it a good advertisement for football,” Del Bosque said.

Brazil have won five World Cups and three Confederations Cups and they’ll be playing at the Maracana in front of their own fans.

“For us it’s a dream game. Come Sunday, a new chapter will begin. We’ll start all-square and see who seizes the initiative,” he added.
