LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to make a bid for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, but is expected to get strong competition from several other European giants.
Sterling is yet to sign a new deal at Liverpool, with reports in UK papers claiming that the England international is set to turn down a £180, 000 a week contract extension to stay at Anfield.
It is understood that Liverpool have met with the representatives of Sterling several times to discuss the new offer, but both parties are yet to come to a stable agreement.
The Daily Mail is also saying that the 20-year-old has concerns over playing wing-back and will put all contract talks on hold until the end of the season.
Now reports in Spain are claiming that Real Madrid are ready to battle with Arsenal and Bayern Munich for the unsettled Jamaican-born forward, who wants to play Champions League football next season.
With Gareth Bale being a strong candidate to return to the English Premier League, Real Madrid will be able to tempt Sterling away from Anfield with a place in the attacking starting lineup alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
Arsenal are keen on landing the pacey wide-man as well, with German champions Bayern Munich also said to be interested in the youngster.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail is also reporting that Manchester United and Arsenal target Mats Hummels is ready to leave Borussia Dortmund, with the German World Cup winner not ruling out making a move abroad.
Elsewhere in transfer news, the Daily Star is reporting that Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric could be making his way back to the Premier League with Manchester City keen on capturing the Croatian former Tottenham playmaker.
Modric, who recently returned from injury and has been impressive for the national team, may be forced to leave the Spanish giants, who are apparently looking to sign French midfielder Paul Pogba from Juventus.
