LEWISTON, Idaho, Sporting Alert — Watch live streaming coverage of the 2017 Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series title game live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN on Friday night. Live coverage starts at 6:35 pm local time (9:35 pm ET).
No. 2 Faulkner (Ala.) avoided elimination and forced a decider against No. 5 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Thursday night with a 6-5 walk-off win at Harris Field in Lewiston.
Trailing by two runs early and then 5-4 entering the bottom of the ninth, Faulkner’s Ryan Rosa shot a double to left-center to score Wes Roberson, who was a pinch runner for Olivier Basabe — to tie the game at 5-5.
The Eagles then took advantage of some confusion from Lewis-Clark State to win the game after the pitcher threw the ball over the head of the catcher to allow the winning run, also in the ninth.
With the loss, Lewis-Clark State suffered their first defeat of the 2017 Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series and is now 4-1 at this year’s tournament.
The Warriors are at 39-14 on the season.
Lewis-Clark State defeated Faulkner 8-6 when they met earlier in the World Series, but couldn’t close out the game Thursday night to land their third-straight national title and an NAIA record 19th national crown.
The Eagles improved to 54-11 overall on the season and stay on course to win a second national title.
They are 4-1 at this year’s World Series.
