(Sporting Alert) — Joaquin Ibanez and Moreira have scored a goal apiece and Argentina leads the Ivory Coast 2-0 at half-time in their FIFA U-17 World Cup quarter-finals at Sharjah Stadium.
Ibanez gave Argentina the lead in the sixth minute before Moreira added a second shortly after the half hour mark in Sharjah.
Many believe Argentina are strong title challengers, but head coach Humberto Grondona is just taking each game at a time.
“We have solid foundations in defence and we’ve found the right mixture in attack,” Grondona said ahead of the game.
“For me, the most important thing is to have reached this stage of the competition and to be playing a fifth match.”
The Ivory Coast are playing without midfielder Junior Ahissan, who scored the winner against Morocco, but was also booked, which ruled him out of this game.
Also on Saturday, three-time champions Nigeria will try to keep impressing at the tournament when they take on Uruguay in a game that is expected to bring lots of highlights later on at Sharjah Stadium.
