LOS ANGELES — — Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks mounted a record-setting 50-point first-half advantage en route to a convincing 124-73 thumping of the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Dallas, which scored 77 points in the first half, set a NBA record for the largest lead at halftime as the team went on to earn its first win of the season.

The Mavericks led 36-13 at the end of the first quarter and 104-57 heading into the final period of the game.

Sunday’s defeat was the largest loss in franchise history for the Clippers (2-1), who were without Kawhi Leonard after he was held out with a mouth injury.

Doncic finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Josh Richardson added 21 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. had 18 points, five rebounds and two steals for Dallas (1-2), which registered its second largest victory margin in franchise history.

Paul George led the Clippers with 15 points and four assists in 24 minutes before sitting out the second half.

Serge Ibaka added 13 points and nine rebounds across three quarters, while Ivica Zubac scored 10 points off the bench.

Dallas started the game quickly and jumped out to a 25-5 lead with 3:30 remaining in the first quarter before going on to dominate the rest of the half after outscoring the Clippers 41-14 in the second quarter.

The Clippers began the new season with victories over the defending NBA champion LA Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.

The Mavericks suffered defeats to the Phoenix Suns and the Lakers in their two openers.

The Dallas Mavericks will host the Charlotte Hornets next time out on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Clippers will hope to have Leonard back when they playing hosts to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday in the second of three straight home games.
