When Michigan State steps on the court on Monday night the team will be aiming to win its sixth straight game in the head-to-head series against Minnesota. The last time Minnesota won a game in the series came on March 10, 2017, a 63-58 victory.

However, the Spartans ( (6-2, 0-2 Big Ten) must return to their early-season form to get back on track after losing two straight games heading into this matchup. They won six in a row to start the season but dropped games to Northwestern and then-No. 9 Wisconsin coming into this one.

Minnesota (8-1, 1-1), meanwhile, comes into this clash in a confident mood, winning two straight, including a 102-95 victory over then-No. 4 Iowa in overtime on Friday night.

In that win, Brandon Johnson, who is averaging less than double figures in scoring this season – connected on all four of his 3-pointers in overtime and had 26 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Gophers.

Marcus Carr is averaging 24.6 points and 6.2 assists per game for Minnesota this term, while Liam Robbins comes in averaging 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks, and Both Gach putting out 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.

Joey Hauser averaged 14.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and shooting 55.9% from the field and 44.1% from 3-pointers for Michigan State

Aaron Henry is scoring 12.0 points with 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists, while Rocket Watts scores 10.9 points and Malik Hall pulling down 5.5 rebounds through eight games for the Spartans.

Michigan State has won by an average of 22 points in its last five wins over the Golden Gophers, but current form sees Minnesota winning its last eight home games and is scoring an average of 87.1 points while giving away 73.9.

This should be a very entertaining game. Michigan State comes in as a 3-point favorite.
