MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Manchester City new manager Pep Guardiola conducted his first training session on Thursday morning, and you can take in the action, courtesy of CityTV, which takes you behind the scenes.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager brings his wealth of knowledge about the game to the Premier League and he has begun working on the way he wants his side to look on the pitch.
Guardiola, who is a huge fan of having a lot of possession of the ball, is already shaping his team to play that way with his familiar tactical drills, which sometimes seems confusing.
A number of well-known faces – excluding those who have been on extended leaves because of Euro 2016 and Copa America duties with their respective national teams – were in attendance on Thursday.
Yaya Toure, a man strongly linked with a move away from Manchester City ever since Guardiola was announced as the new manager several months ago, was in the think of things carrying out the orders of the Spaniard.
Yaya played for Guardiola during his time at Barcelona before a reported fall-out over his status in the team resulted in the Ivory Coast midfielder making a move to the Etihad Stadium.
Also present at Thursday’s session were Samir Nasri, who could also be sold by Guardiola, Wilfried Bony, Fernando, Gaël Clichy, Fernandinho, Fabian Delph, Bruno Zuculini, Kelechi Iheanacho and Willy Caballero – among others.
However, captain Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart, Raheem Sterling, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Raheem Sterling, new signing Nolito, Sergio Agüero, Jesús Navas, Eliaquim Mangala, David Silva and Nicolás Otamendi were among those missing.
