(Sporting Alert) — West Indies have won the toss and have decided to bowl first in the opening game of their five-match One-Day International Series against Pakistan at the Guyana National Stadium this morning.
The West Indies, which failed to progress from the group stages of the ICC Champions Trophy and then disappoint their fans in the recent CELKON Mobile Cup with India and Sri Lanka, have made to changes.
The hosts have opted to play Jason Holder instead of fellow fast bowler Tino Best in the bowling attack, while captain Dwayne Bravo, who was suspended for the last group game of Champions Trophy, is back and he takes the place of Devon Smith.
“We get some amazing support from the fans here in Guyana and we expect similar support and a large turn-out for the matches. The fans can expect some excitement and big heart,” Bravo said.
“We are going to rebound from our disappointed end to a very good Series (CELKON Mobile Cup) which started in Jamaica. We regrouped, had a couple of days off and now look forward to this series against Pakistan.”
For Pakistan, meanwhile, Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi both returned to the Pakistan XI.
