TEXAS, Sporting Alert – The 2015 NFL preseason will continue this week with another healthy schedule, with all the clubs resuming their competitive preparations for the coming campaign.
Week 2 action gets going on Thursday, 13 August, with two contests, while Friday’s fixture also sees two games on the schedule.
After losing 20-17 to the Washington Redskins last week, the Cleveland Browns will try to rebound in their second game of the preseason when they take on the Buffalo Bills at FirstEnergy Stadium live on ESPN and the WatchESPN App.
The Bills will also be hoping to bounce back from their Week 1 defeat to the Carolina Panthers.
The Redskins and the Detroit Lions, two teams which registered victories in the opening week of preseason, will take on each other at FedEx Field in Landover – looking to go 2-0 in the warmups.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs, who rallied from a 10 point deficit to dust off the Arizona Cardinals, entertain the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium, with backup quarterback Chase Daniel hoping to continue from where he left off last week for Kansas.
Daniel ended the contest against the Cardinals with 17-of-21 for 189 passing yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 1 victory win.
At the same time, starter Alex Smith, who was 6-of-10 for 42 yards, will be expected to be more involved in Week 2.
Elsewhere in the second week of the NFL preseason, Sam Bradford is set to make his debut with the Philadelphia Eagles against the Baltimore Ravens at Lincoln Financial Field, and he will be splitting snaps with Tim Tebow, who impressed in the first game.
Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts face-off at Lucas Oil Stadium, while the Denver Broncos travel to Texas to take on the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Saturday.
Other highlighted matchups for this weekend will see the Green Bay Packers meeting the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 2-0 in preseason, on Sunday, at Heinz Field, while the Dallas Cowboys will battle with the San Francisco 49ers on the same day.
What To Watch For
The 49ers’ rookie running back Jarryd Hayne is expected to be one of the players to watch for again in Week 2, following his good showing last week.
The Australian rugby player was unable to prevent his team from going down at Houston last week, but did finish with an impressive 63 yards on five rushing attempts.
On the other side, the NFL pundits are hoping the San Diego Chargers’ Melvin Gordon can deliver a better performance from what he did against Dallas, when he made six rushes for just 11 yards.
Gordon spent most of the time in Week 1 dancing around trying to break away from defenders and the pundits believe he would be more effective if he becomes more decisive when he’s on the ball.
