Week 6 AP Top 25 College Football Rankings

TULSA, Okla., Sporting Alert – Ohio State remains the No. 1 team in the latest edition of the Associated Press (AP) college football top 25 rankings, released on Sunday.

The Buckeyes (5-0) who stayed undefeated on the season with a battling 34-27 win over Indiana on Saturday, received 38 first-place votes from the voting panel for 1444 points.

The 38 first-place votes were the fewest received so far this season by Ohio State which started the campaign as the first unanimous preseason No. 1.

TCU (5-0) who received five first-place votes, moved up two places to No. 2 after hammering Texas, 50-7 over the weekend, while fellow Big 12 outfits Baylor (4-0) also jumped two places up to No. 3 and got 10 of the votes for the No. 1 team in the country.

Last week’s No. 2 Michigan State fell two spots to No. 4, after struggling to shake off Purdue in the close 24-21 win.

Utah, which was on a bye this past weekend, received seven first-place votes and travelled five places to No. 5 in the AP topT25 rankings, this after a number of teams which were ahead of them failed to win.

Completing the top 10 are Clemson (4-0), which jumped six places to No. 6, after holding off Notre Dame, 24-22 at home, LSU at No. 7, Alabama up five slots to No. 8, with Texas A&M resting at No. 9 and Oklahoma in the top 10 for the first time this season at 10th.

The Florida Gators (5-0) were the biggest movers in Week 6 – this after moving up 14 spots to No. 11 with a stunning 38-10 victory over Ole Miss, which was ranked No. 3 at the time. The Rebels (4-1), on the back of that defeat, fell 11 spots to No. 14.

Notre Dame dropped to No. 15, while UCLA went from being the seventh-ranked team in the AP top 25 rankings to No. 20 after losing to Arizona State.

Teams coming into the top 25 in Week 6 were USC (3-1) at No. 17, Iowa (5-0), at No. 22, Toledo (4-0), at No. 24 and Boise State (4-1), back in the poll at No. 25.

Wisconsin 19, Mississippi State 21 and West Virginia 23 were the teams dropping out of the AP top 25 this week.
