MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – The following are the NFL games on the schedule for Week 17 as the race for playoff spots take center stage on the regular season’s final day.
A lot of focus will be in the AFC conference where the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers battle for one AFC wild-card spot from two different sites.
The Jets (10-5) will take on the Bills (7-8) at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, hoping to pip the Steelers, who will be at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, taking on the done and dusted Browns (3-12).
The Ney York Jets hold the advantage over Pittsburgh heading into their matchup with the Bills, as a win or a tie would see then clinching a playoff spot from the AFC EAST.
They could also book their spot if the Steelers fail to win their game in Ohio.
However, Pittsburgh, which starts as 11-point favorite to beat the Cleveland Browns, will be hoping the Bills can do them a favor and add to their winning record at home this season, as a win for them and a loss for the Jets would mean they would collect that one AFC wild-card spot that is up for grab.
Also in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos will vie for the AFC West division title.
Again from two different places.
The Chiefs (10-5) have won nine games in succession to rally from a 1-5 start and it would be a remarkable feat if the men from Kansas City were to haul themselves all the way to the top of the division on the final day of the regular season when at one point it looked as though the Broncos were going to run away with the divisional title.
Meanwhile, Denver (11-4) can wrap things up with a win over the struggling San Diego Chargers (4-11) and it is favored by 9.5 points to get the job done at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Not only that, a win for them and a defeat for the New England Patriots in Miami — which seems highly unlikely on current form — would mean the Broncos would be the team clinching home-field advantage throughout AFC playoffs.
Defending champions Patriots (12-3) will clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a win against the Dolphins at the Sun Life Stadium, here in Miami, FL.
There are lots of action going on in the NFC as well on the final day of the regular season, with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals vying for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
While the Panther (14-1) are expected to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-9), the Cardinals (13-2) have a much stiffer test at U of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale against the Seattle Seahawks (9-6).
