LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsene Wenger is fuming at his players after Arsenal only qualified as runners up from Group F following their defeat at Napoli on Wednesday.
Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeated to Napoli on the night and even almost run the risk of not making it past the group stages had they conceded another goal.
“Of course, to finish second makes the potential draw more difficult,” Wenger said. “Maybe this year we will be a bit luckier [although] if you look at the teams, you know we will have a difficult draw.
So with the defeat, here are the teams the English Premier League leaders could potentially face in the last 16.
Seeing that no teams from the same country can be drawn alongside each other and a runner up must face a group winner, Arsenal could face the likes of holders Bayern Munich as well as La Liga sides Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain is also another club Arsenal could face in the second round.
The official draw for the knock round is on Monday.
TEAMS ARSENAL COULD FACE:
Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and PSG.
