LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has announced that midfielder Tomas Rosicky is available for tonight’s Champions League Group F game against Napoli at Emirates Stadium.
The 32-year-old has returned to full training with the team after being sidelined hamstring injury and Wenger has hinted that he could play some part against Napoli.
“Rosicky is back into the squad for (Tuesday night) and is available again,” Wenger said on www.arsenal.com at his press conference on Monday. “He has recovered from his hamstring injury.
“He can play in all the offensive positions and I’m very happy that he’s back because he is very influential in our game.
“I haven’t decided who will start and who will not start. But I’m very happy that he’s back in the squad.”
The Gunners will however, be without injured forward Theo Walcott, who recently underwent a minor abdominal surgery, as well as Yaya Sanogo (back), Lukas Podolski (hamstring), Santi Cazorla (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby (both knee).
Napoli’s attack will be led by former Real Madrid goalscoring machine Gonzalo Higuaín, the striker who got away from Wenger and Arsenal in the summer.
The contest is also setup for on form striker Olivier Griroud to show that his early season form is no flute and Arsenal didn’t really miss out at signing Higuaín.
In the other game in Group F tonight, last year’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund will host Marseille, two teams searching for their first points in the group after losing on match day one.
