The attacking powerhouses are joined by Alexis Sánchez as manager Gerardo Martino continues to rotate his squad in an attempt to keep them fresh and not overworked towards the end of the season.
Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has played in all eight of Barcelona’s competitive games this season, has now been given a ready as he was left out of the squad by Martino.
“We have to think about what state we’ll be in by March or April,” Martino said. “Our aim is to have all our players in top form by the end of each competition.
“At the moment of truth, perhaps we won’t care about how many minutes players have had, we’ll be more concerned about what we need to do.”
The familiar faces of Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets start in midfield for the defending champions, who are hoping to continue with their 100-percent start to the season.
Meanwhile, for Real Sociedad, striker Carlos Vela only starts on the bench, but Xabi Prieto is among the starters in midfield.
