CALIFORNIA, Sporting Alert – Daley Blind will play alongside Phil Jones in the backline for Manchester United against European champions Barcelona in today’s International Champions Cup at Levi’s Stadium.

Blind takes the place of Chris Smalling, while Real Madrid target David de Gea, as promised by manager Louis van Gaal, starts in goal for the first time in this year’s pre-season.

The backline is completed by summer recruit Darmian Pictures and Luke Shaw.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick will start in the center of the midfield, with Juan Mata, Memphis Depay, Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney the focus of the attack once again.

For Barcelona, who are without Lionel Messi and Neymar, Pedro, a man heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, is among the starters.

Luis Suarez, Andrés Iniesta, Rafinha, Sergio Busquets, Thomas Vermaelen and former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique are also in the starting lineup for the Champions League winners.

Argentine playmaker Angel Di Maria and his countryman Marcos Rojo and Mexico’s Javier Hernandez all join up with the Manchester United squad on the tour of the United States, but will not feature.

Also out of the contest for the Red Devils Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has a “little injury” and will not be risk.

Jonny Evans, Adnan Januzaj, Smalling, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and James Wilson and on the bench for the Premier League side.

For Barcelona, they have Ivan Rakitic, Marc Bartra, Douglas, Jeremy Mathieu, Alen Halilovic and El Haddadi Munir are available as substitutes.
