(Sporting Alert) — Two college bowl games will be contested on Boxing Day, December 26, with the LITTLE CAESARS BOWL and SAN DIEGO COUNTY CREDIT UNION POINSETTIA BOWL are both up for the taking on Thursday night.

In the first kick-off at Ford Field in Detroit, linebacker Matt Johnson and Mid-American Conference championship champions Bowling Green (10-3) will take on the Pittsburgh Panthers (6-6) for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl title.

The game will be streamed live on and broadcast nationally on ESPN. Game time is at 6:00 PM ET.

The Falcons are 1-2 against Pittsburgh heading into this bowl game, but did win the last time they went head-to-head by a score of 27-17 at Heinz Field in 2008.

In the night’s other bowl game, No. 23 Northern Illinois (12-1) and Utah State (8-5) will battle for the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego.

The game will be streamed live on and broadcast nationally on ESPN. Game time is at 9:30 PM ET.

Northern Illinois went 8-0 in the MAC during the regular season before their shocking 47-27 defeat to Bowling Green in the Conference title game on December 6.

Defeat saw the Huskies missing out on perhaps winning a second successive BCS bowl bid.

“(That) game doesn’t define us — we’re not going to let it,” head coach Rod Carey said. “We’ve got another game. We still have a lot to play for.”
